Tasmanian Climate Change Office

The Tasmanian Climate Change Office (TCCO) is a small, multi-disciplinary team established within the Department of Premier and Cabinet to lead the Government’s efforts to respond to the challenges of climate change in Tasmania. We report directly to the Deputy Secretary of the Department and through him, to the Premier.

Our Objectives

To empower Tasmanians to:

  1. reduce their greenhouse gas emissions
  2. make a successful transition to a low carbon economy
  3. adapt to the changes in our climate
  4. capture new opportunities that a changing climate will provide
  5. contribute to national and global solutions.

Our Role

The Tasmanian Climate Change Office will:

  • provide strategic leadership
  • build relationships with Agencies to ensure a whole of government approach
  • apply an objective, evidence-based approach to climate change
  • coordinate and facilitate action and behavioural change across Government and the community
  • stimulate innovative and creative solutions
  • connect people to other sources of advice and information.
